I think using photoshop I will paint and add all the details and make it look more like a building from the Metropolis based on Heath Robinson.

WIM Maya Experiment
I created this model last night, I know it isn't textured at the moment and looks very basic, but it will help me with the perspective of my concept painting.

Little life drawing exercise
I feel really guilty for doing that instead of pushing my ongoing project forward but I needed it. Tried to make more sense of feet so that, hopefully, the next time we have life drawing I wont just leave the feet of the model looking like obscure lumps.

Interiors research for Octavia
I had a chance last week to look around Rochester and do some sketching and take some photos. These thumbnails are inspired by that trip. I also had an interesting idea about the religion of the citizens of Octavia. They worship the two mountains from which the city is suspended, represented by the female sculpture on the left (thumbnail 1 ) and the male one to the right.
Here are some photos taken from the Rochester Cathedral:

Brush texture and invisible cities
Since I got a good response for my life drawing sketch from Phil (Hi Phil :) )
I wanted to incorporate it with my project. So after a quick chat with Jordan today, I made the drawing into a brush for photoshop.
I love the texture it creates, at first glance it looks like a really good start for rocky surfaces and possibly with some additional editing, clouds/steam. I did a quick concept thumb for Octavia using only my mouse (what a rebel!), so ALL feedback is welcome.

Spider-web city concept art
A quick concept sketch for the city I picked, first drawn in my sketchbook and then redone digitally:

Exercise 2 - lasso tool/marquee tool/transforms
The second lot of thumbnails, this time for the city named Esmeralda:
Looking at them now reminds me a lot of the background for the text frames in the film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari".
Photoshop exercise 01 - Brush thumbnails
I managed to recover my files from monday (I'll never forget my external hard drive again!). And here it is - trying out the different brushes (half of which, sadly, are not compatible with photoshop CS5).
