Found too many examples of the things I am looking for so I had to combine them into two influence maps. Mainly gypsy themed circuses and restaurants, the age is the 1800s and some fashion from that time which will help a lot with the character design.

"What If" Metropolis - Influence Maps
My first influence map, based on William Heath Robinsons' work. There is already a sense of something happening in a city, a lot of steam, a lot of machinery and people frantically adding more to it, experimenting and pushing the boundaries of their own metropolis.
Second influence map is about the transportation of the people. Thankfully H. Robinson spent a lot of time on the subject - I think the Metropolis should be surrounded by water. Boats and submarines, and strange looking and over-sized bikes and vehicles on land.
The last influence map is concerned with the colour palette of the Metropolis. Since the overall feel is cartoony - the colours are blocky - with not a lot of shading involved and a welcoming palette of warm colours.

Invisible Cities - Octavia - Interior Influence Map
My influence map for Octavia is really simple but it did give me inspiration. The keywords are clutter, hammocks and cathedrals. I am thinking about spacious interior that's filled with hanging baskets, ivy, hammocks and strings.

Invisible cities - Influence Map
This is my first influence map for our project. The city I picked is the Spider-web city. Based on my thumbnails I have some ideas of the overall design.
Things that inspire me at the moment are spider webs, the crystal cave in Mexico and temples built directly into cliffs. Also (strangely) New York city - the tall skyscrapers and Spider-man somehow made sense for a Spider-City. Trying hard to stay away from already finished fantasy ideas but I still looked at a couple (just in case I might be missing something).
